You Need Form

Buddhism in Zen, especially, means that you really interact with this world. To interact with this world you need form. You need things to do, and doing them with other people in complete engagement. This practice understands that there is this deep interconnectivity. So if this comes from just thinking, then that’s what we call ideology. If this comes from a deep intuitive awareness of this world by direct perception, by living with it, then that’s a little different. Our practice encourages that for you, to see for yourself. You cannot go through this world without form. But you must perceive that this form is originally empty. And what that means is it’s always connecting with and interacting with everything else.
