Everyday, Stop

Everyday we say “I.” “I think this, I want this, I like this.” Even when it's for others, we say “I.” “I just want you to be happy!" What kind of “I” is that? Buddha’s life and teaching means everyday stop. Even five minutes or ten minutes, sit down, anyplace. Sit on the floor, sit in a chair, sit outside, sit on the bus or subway. Put away your phone and look back at yourself. Say inside, “I always have some thinking about ‘I.’ What am I?” This is Buddha’s practice. His teaching is on how to find our true nature, how to find real happiness that’s independent of any situation, life or death. Also how to get compassion and wisdom, to live well in this world.
